Markets | State Supervisory Council Opens Separate Fund Review
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan ordered the State Supervisory Council (DDK) to examine recent investment fund transactions. DDK Chairman Salih Tanrıkulu confirmed that the review had begun, with investigators able to obtain physical and digital records and refer findings to administrative and judicial authorities. The move follows the creation of a coordination council chaired by Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz to oversee fund liquidations and investor payments.
Six suspects detained in the wider fund investigation, including Erdin Özel and Emir Münir Sarpyener, were referred to the courthouse on Wednesday.
Astor Enerji Chairman Feridun Geçgel had his passport seized after returning to Türkiye from the United States under a court-ordered travel ban imposed earlier in the investigation. His brother Enver Geçgel and son Yusuf Geçgel are also subject to travel restrictions.

Cyprus | Leaders Dispute Why New York Trilateral Did Not Take Place
Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides convened the National Council on Wednesday to brief political leaders on his New York meetings with UN Secretary-General António Guterres and Personal Envoy María Ángela Holguín. Christodoulides said Tuesday that the Cyprus process was "under no circumstances" at a deadlock and argued that new Greek Cypriot proposals on methodology, substance and confidence-building measures had received a positive response from Guterres. Greek Cypriot negotiator Menelaos Menelaou said the Secretary-General has "specific moves" in mind for the immediate period ahead.
The leaders give different accounts of why no trilateral meeting took place in New York. Christodoulides has blamed the Turkish Cypriot side. Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhürman says he did not reject a meeting, but told the UN he would participate if there was a realistic prospect of agreement on some of Guterres' seven confidence-building proposals. He has also accused the Greek Cypriot side of pursuing what he calls "trust-eroding" actions while confidence measures remain unresolved.

Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis said the Great Sea Interconnector (GSI) route will not be redrawn and that Greece alone will authorize the French contractor's survey work.
Gerapetritis acknowledged that the cable passes through maritime areas where Türkiye claims sovereign rights and jurisdiction, but said Athens considers the route to cross the Greek continental shelf. He said the French side would seek authorization only from Greece, while Türkiye could be notified through procedures such as a navigational warning. Gulf Security | Pakistan Says Saudi Defense Pledge Covers Available Military Means
Pakistan Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif said Islamabad would use "whatever means are available" to defend Saudi Arabia against Houthi attacks under the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement with Saudi Arabia and Türkiye.
Asif did not say whether Riyadh had formally requested Pakistani military support or whether Pakistani forces had participated in strikes. His comments followed a meeting of Turkish, Saudi and Pakistani military chiefs in Riyadh, where the three sides discussed intelligence sharing, military coordination and implementation of the pact.
Türkiye | MGK Meets Ahead of Parliament Reopening
President Erdoğan will chair the National Security Council (MGK) on Wednesday, with the "Terror-Free Türkiye" process expected to lead the agenda. Iraq and Sinjar, Black Sea navigation security and regional conflicts are also expected to be discussed.
Parliament begins its new legislative year on October 1. Erdoğan is due to address the opening session, and a parliamentary commission is expected to be established to follow the process.

Türkiye's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell 0.3 percentage points to 7.8 percent in August, with the number of unemployed declining by 106,000 to 2.74 million. Employment rose by 136,000 to 32.5 million.
The broader labor underutilization rate, which includes time-related underemployment and the potential labor force, rose 0.4 points to 31 percent. TÜRK-İŞ separately calculated the September hunger threshold for a family of four at TL37,801 and the poverty threshold at TL123,130.
Black Sea / NATO | Romania Confirms Explosive Drone as Russia Hits Izmail
Romania's Defense Ministry confirmed that debris found near Gropeni in Brăila County came from a drone carrying an explosive payload. Investigators found a crater and determined that the charge detonated on impact, causing a small fire on agricultural land. No casualties were reported. The fragments were handed to the Romanian Intelligence Service for further examination.
Romania had initially described the object on Tuesday only as a possible drone. Russia's Defense Ministry separately said its overnight strikes hit port infrastructure at Izmail on Ukraine's Danube frontier, alongside targets in Kyiv and the surrounding region. Reuters could not independently verify Moscow's target claims.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi received US feedback through Qatari mediators on Tehran's proposed seven-day confidence-building plan, which includes reopening the Strait of Hormuz to normal maritime traffic.
A source briefed on the talks told Reuters that the main dispute now concerns the sequence of steps rather than the existence of the plan itself. Araqchi is due to discuss the US response with the Iranian leadership in Tehran on Wednesday.

The visit comes as Armenia and Azerbaijan continue work around the TRIPP project, Türkiye develops the Kars-Dilucu rail connection toward Nakhchivan and Iran has called for a Yeraskh-Julfa rail link through the exclave.
Technology & Defense | TEKNOFEST Güneydoğu Opens in Şanlıurfa
TEKNOFEST Güneydoğu opened Wednesday at Şanlıurfa GAP Airport and runs through October 4. Organizers say more than 1.6 million contestants from 99 countries applied to technology competitions, with more than 730,000 teams entering and 2,000 reaching the finals.
Competition fields include air defense, electronic warfare, drones, cybersecurity and financial technology. Turkish defense and aerospace platforms including ATAK, HÜRKUŞ, ANKA, Bayraktar TB2, TB3 and AKINCI are also being displayed.
