Türkiye's fund investigation has acquired an international reach, but its legal, financial and market consequences are moving on separate tracks. Requests to 29 countries serve the investigation. Ziraat Bankası's 6.4 billion lira in payments addresses investor losses, while a further payment bill remains before parliament. FTSE Russell's December review concerns the effect of the fund measures on free-float calculations, not the merits of the criminal case.
Regional security presents a different problem. The attack on Saudi Aramco came before ratification of the Mecca Pact, with no Turkish troop deployment confirmed. On Cyprus, both leaders plan to attend COP31 in Antalya, but no meeting between them has been announced there. Disputes over crossing points, the UN record of convergences and the terms for restarting negotiations remain unresolved.
