Bosphorus News is a product of this Republic. We are Turkish, and we take pride in our roots. But our responsibility as journalists extends beyond national identity. We are committed to independent reporting, factual accuracy and the fair examination of competing claims, including those made by our own country.
Our editorial philosophy rests on a principle articulated by Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of our Republic:
"Peace at home, peace in the world."
For us, these words are more than a historical quotation. They guide how we approach international affairs, regional disputes and the responsibilities of journalism.
Peace does not require Türkiye to surrender its legitimate rights or remain silent when its interests are challenged. Nor can the defense of national interests justify territorial maximalism, expansionist ambitions or the deliberate cultivation of hostility between neighboring peoples.
We do not seek to subjugate others, nor will we accept subjugation ourselves. We oppose the domination of one people by another, regardless of who advocates it or under which flag. Our principles are rooted in human dignity, international law, democratic values and universal human rights.
We will not allow nationalist rhetoric, whether advanced in the name of the "Blue Homeland" or directed against Türkiye for domestic political gain in Greece or elsewhere, to dictate our editorial judgments. Maritime claims and security concerns deserve rigorous examination, grounded in international law and evidence rather than political slogans.
We will defend the principle that Türkiye's legitimate rights deserve recognition and respect, while applying the same standards of evidence, international law and intellectual honesty to the claims of every regional actor.
Our independence will never mean indifference to our country. Our national identity will never be an excuse to abandon journalistic independence.
Our readers deserve consistency, independence and intellectual honesty. We intend to uphold those standards regardless of political pressure, national sentiment or the expectations of those in power.
Today, however, belongs to the Republic.
The Republic gave generations of Turkish citizens the opportunity to think freely, question authority, engage with the world and build institutions of their own. Bosphorus News belongs to that living legacy.
We take pride in the Republic that made our existence possible and in the ideals of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk that continue to guide us.
Long live the Republic!
Long live ATATÜRK!
"Peace at home, peace in the world."
