Murat Yıldız is an investigative journalist, editor and producer focused on Türkiye, the Eastern Mediterranean, diplomacy, political economy, organized crime, human trafficking, illicit organ-trade networks and regional security.
He is the founder and editor-in-chief of Bosphorus News, an English-language regional news and analysis outlet covering Türkiye, the Eastern Mediterranean, the Balkans, the Black Sea, the South Caucasus, Central Asia, the Gulf, NATO, energy corridors, defense and strategic infrastructure.
Yıldız's reporting and media work has covered issues including human trafficking, illicit organ-trade networks, cross-border organized crime, regional diplomacy, security affairs and political economy. His previous work spans print, digital and broadcast media. Selected reporting, editorial and production credits include The Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, The Economist, Yomiuri Shimbun, VICE News, BuzzFeed News, Le Figaro, Al Jazeera, The National, HBO and TLC, among others.
He previously served as Chief Economy Editor at Duvar English, worked as a first advisor in the Turkish Grand National Assembly, and serves as an elected board member of the Foreign Media Association in Türkiye.
Yıldız holds a graduate degree from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, with academic work focused on the Balkans and Cyprus. His academic and professional training also includes additional work in Ancient Philosophy, communication, culture and United Nations-related studies through institutions including the University of Edinburgh, UC Berkeley and Gazi University.
