President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said Israel's military actions in Syria and Lebanon have reached a point that threatens Türkiye, as he sharply attacked Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government and warned against moves targeting Turkish and Turkish Cypriot rights in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Speaking at his party's parliamentary group meeting on June 10, Erdoğan accused Israel of becoming a threat not only to the region but also to humanity under its current government. He said Netanyahu's government was spreading instability from Gaza to Lebanon, Syria and the Mediterranean, while international silence was allowing Israel to act with greater impunity.
Erdoğan said Türkiye's security did not begin only from Hatay, but also from Aleppo, Damascus and Beirut. The line placed Syria and Lebanon inside Ankara's own security reading, not as distant conflict zones but as neighboring files with direct consequences.
He said Syria and Lebanon were independent states, but also part of what he called Türkiye's geography of affection and brotherhood. Erdoğan said Türkiye would not tolerate faits accomplis in those countries and would not remain silent in the face of attacks on what he described as brotherly peoples.
Erdoğan invokes Hitler comparison
Erdoğan used some of his harshest language against Netanyahu and his cabinet, accusing them of committing genocide in Gaza and saying the international silence around Israel resembled the failure to stop Adolf Hitler before the Second World War.
He said silence and inaction in the face of Hitler 85 years ago had led to the deaths of 80 million people, adding that humanity had paid the price for "the madness of a deranged tyrant."
"Today, the same mistake is being repeated," Erdoğan said. "The genocides of Gaza butcher Netanyahu and his cabinet are being watched with the same silence and inaction shown toward Hitler."
Erdoğan said the fire would not only burn the region if it grew, but that its sparks would fall across the world. He argued that Israel must be brought back within the line of law and said this was no longer the responsibility of a few countries alone, but a common issue for humanity.
"Israel must be stopped," Erdoğan said, adding that Türkiye would keep using diplomatic channels with neighbors, friendly countries and states that support peace.
The speech followed an earlier Ankara-Netanyahu exchange in which Türkiye condemned the Israeli leader's remarks and government and opposition figures in Ankara closed ranks, a confrontation Bosphorus News covered as a rare moment of domestic convergence on the Israel file.
Erdoğan also framed Israel's regional conduct through the language of "Arz-ı Mev'ud," or promised land, saying Ankara was fully aware of the final target of that ambition and would not allow it. The phrase sharpened the speech beyond immediate military operations in Syria and Lebanon, placing Israel's actions inside a broader ideological and territorial warning.
Eastern Mediterranean warning
Erdoğan then moved the same warning into the Eastern Mediterranean and Cyprus file.
He said Ankara was watching efforts to ignite tension in the Mediterranean, particularly on the island of Cyprus. He accused small actors of following Israel's lead and warned them not to pursue what he called reckless ambitions in the Eastern Mediterranean.
"If the rights and law of Türkiye and the Turkish Cypriots are targeted in the Eastern Mediterranean, our response will be very clear and very hard," Erdoğan said.
The statement came during a week of renewed attention on Cyprus, airspace restrictions, energy diplomacy and military activity across the Eastern Mediterranean. Erdoğan's warning also fits a longer deterioration in Türkiye-Israel ties across the region, where Netanyahu has signalled a harder line on Ankara as Israel deepens its strategic coordination with Greece and Cyprus, a pattern Bosphorus News previously examined through the Israel-Greece-Cyprus track.
Security map widens
Erdoğan's speech widened Ankara's public security map at a sensitive moment in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Israel's operations in Lebanon and Syria, the Gaza war, Cyprus tensions, Eastern Mediterranean energy competition and Gulf shipping risk were presented as connected pressure points rather than separate crises.
The rhetoric has also moved through symbolic disputes, including Jerusalem. Israel recently rebuked a Turkish interior minister over remarks on the city, a dispute Bosphorus News reported as another sign of how quickly Türkiye-Israel language can move from domestic symbolism into bilateral tension.
Erdoğan's reference to Hormuz added an economic and maritime layer to the address. He warned that if Israel's actions were not restrained, the consequences would be felt not only by the region but also by wider international markets and societies.
The speech gives Ankara a sharper political line before expected new diplomatic activity around Cyprus, Eastern Mediterranean energy formats and NATO discussions in the weeks ahead. It also signals that Türkiye will treat Syria, Lebanon, Cyprus and the Eastern Mediterranean as part of a single regional security conversation when Israel's military actions are involved.
