On October 27, 2026, ASELSAN reported a record $30.7 billion order backlog and announced that production had begun at the first phase of its Oğulbey Technology Base. The Turkish defense electronics company signed $14 billion in new contracts during January–September, with nearly two-thirds of their combined value booked in the third quarter.
ASELSAN is bringing new manufacturing capacity online as orders grow for air defense, radar and guided-munition systems. Overseas revenue and profits increased, although operating cash flow declined. The company has yet to publish delivery schedules for much of its new business or output targets for the facilities entering service.
Contracts Build Faster Than Sales
At September 30, ASELSAN had $30.744 billion in outstanding orders, compared with $17.914 billion a year earlier and about $20 billion at the end of 2025. New contracts signed in the first nine months totaled $14.015 billion, up from $5.7 billion a year earlier. The third quarter accounted for $9.118 billion, approximately 65% of the nine-month total.
The book-to-bill ratio, which measures orders against sales, rose from 2.5 to 4.4. Revenue increased 28% in real terms to TL151.5 billion. The new contracts contribute to the backlog until the work is delivered or recognized as revenue; adding the two totals would double-count business already secured.
Orders covered air and missile defense, radar, electronic warfare, guidance systems, communications and naval equipment. ASELSAN named Türkiye's Presidency of Defense Industries and ROKETSAN among its domestic customers, alongside international clients that were not always identified. Its disclosures provide neither a complete customer-country breakdown nor delivery dates for every major contract.
Production Begins at Oğulbey
The first phase of the Oğulbey Technology Base, under development since 2025, entered operation during the reporting period. ASELSAN also commissioned a Guided Munition Systems Production Center and expanded robotic and automated manufacturing for land, air and naval programs.
Investment in manufacturing capacity and high-technology infrastructure reached $684 million in nine months, an increase of 228% year on year. Research and development spending rose 36% to approximately $1.26 billion, covering microelectronics, underwater systems, smart munitions, high-power microwave technology, satellites and quantum computing.
"Our primary responsibility moving forward is to convert this portfolio into timely deliveries, expanded production capacity, and sustained technological superiority," Chief Executive Ahmet Akyol said in ASELSAN's official English financial results statement.
ASELSAN describes Oğulbey as the largest single defense-industry investment in the history of the Turkish Republic. Its announcement did not include comparative project costs supporting that description, nor did it specify production volumes, product-level capacity gains or a date for full output. The first phase is operating, but the additional delivery capacity has yet to be quantified publicly.
Overseas Revenue Gains Ground
ASELSAN's consolidated accounts show a larger contribution from foreign customers. Note 14 records TL26.87 billion in overseas sales for January–September, up from TL11.08 billion a year earlier, with both periods expressed in September 2026 purchasing power. Overseas sales accounted for approximately 17.7% of total revenue, compared with 9.4% in 2025.
The company separately reported $1.9 billion in new export contracts, a 34% increase. Those agreements concern future supplies, while the lira figures reflect revenue recognized during the period. The disclosed export orders cover air defense, radar, avionics, electronic warfare, electro-optical equipment and payloads for unmanned aircraft and surface vessels. ASELSAN has not published a complete geographic breakdown of its backlog.
Profits Rise as Operating Cash Flow Slips
Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization reached TL40.6 billion, and the margin improved to 26.8% from 24.9%. Nine-month net profit rose to approximately TL26.3 billion from TL15.0 billion a year earlier.
Operating cash flow fell from TL31.3 billion to TL23.0 billion over the same nine-month comparison. Inventories increased from TL91.6 billion at the end of 2025 to TL131.0 billion at September 30. Cash and cash equivalents declined from TL36.2 billion to TL31.8 billion over those nine months, while customer advances rose from TL42.4 billion to TL60.7 billion.
More capital is tied up in inventory as production expands. The published figures do not show how much of the cash-flow decline came from inventory purchases, collections or other timing effects. Cash flow is compared with the first nine months of 2025; inventory and balance-sheet cash are compared with the preceding December. ASELSAN said financial debt stood at 14% of assets and financing expenses were down 10.3% year on year.
October Awards Add to the Workload
ASELSAN made three air-defense contract announcements involving Türkiye's Presidency of Defense Industries after the September 30 reporting date, worth €3.9915 billion in total. They covered €1.0085 billion for additional long-range air-defense production on October 1, €2.46 billion for hybrid air-defense systems on October 5 and €523 million for next-generation air and missile-defense development on October 26.
The announced awards fall outside the $14.015 billion in January–September contracts. Their value is not revenue already earned, and the work ranges from development to production. ASELSAN has not released a consolidated delivery timetable for the projects.
Recent SİPER-2 air-defense trials involving ASELSAN systems, including a test of in-flight target reassignment, offer evidence of technical progress. The larger order book puts a separate test ahead: how quickly the new facilities can turn contracted work into deliveries, revenue and cash receipts.
