Türkiye has denied claims that a missile launch took place in the territorial waters of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, but the allegation has continued to spread online after a video circulated on social media showing what appeared to be a sea-based launch.

In a statement issued on 21 March 2026, the Presidency’s Directorate of Communications said allegations that missiles were fired from a submarine in TRNC waters did not reflect reality. The statement added that the footage in question had been assessed as having been recorded in international waters.
