Türkiye plans to send flight personnel to the United Kingdom in August to begin Eurofighter Typhoon training, the Ministry of National Defense said at its weekly press briefing held on July 23 at ROKETSAN's Lalahan facilities in Ankara.
Rear Admiral Zeki Aktürk, the ministry's press and public relations adviser and spokesperson, said flight training would begin after the personnel arrived in the UK. Additional flight and maintenance crews are expected to be deployed over the coming years under the procurement programme.
Türkiye signed an agreement covering Eurofighter aircraft, equipment and ammunition procurement in October 2025, following earlier technical and logistical arrangements with the United Kingdom.
The Defense Ministry also said new Fırtına-2 self-propelled howitzers had completed inspection and acceptance procedures and entered the Turkish Land Forces inventory. State-owned MKE delivered additional weapons and ammunition during the same period.
Aktürk also marked the anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC)'s Peace and Freedom Day, commemorating those killed and honouring surviving veterans.
In the Black Sea, Türkiye continued mine-countermeasure and surveillance activities with Bulgaria and Romania through the Türkiye-led Black Sea Mine Countermeasures Task Group.
