Toprak Razgatlıoğlu Targets 2027 Title After Steep MotoGP Transition

By Bosphorus News Staff

Turkish rider Toprak Razgatlıoğlu says his move into MotoGP has been demanding but necessary, as he builds toward a championship push in 2027.

Born in 1996, Razgatlıoğlu is widely regarded as one of Türkiye’s most accomplished motorcycle racers. He progressed through national and European competitions before establishing himself in the Superbike World Championship, where he won the world title and became known for his late braking and fearless overtakes. His success cemented his status not just domestically but on the global stage.

Razgatlıoğlu also follows in the footsteps of another Turkish motorcycle great, Kenan Sofuoğlu. Sofuoğlu, a five-time Supersport World Champion, remains one of Türkiye’s most successful road racers of all time and a role model for generations. His achievements helped raise the profile of motorcycle racing in Türkiye long before Razgatlıoğlu’s rise.

MotoGP presents a different level of competition. The bikes, electronics and race rhythm require adjustment. Razgatlıoğlu has been open about the challenge and has described this period as part of a longer plan rather than a quick breakthrough.

He has identified 2027 as the year he wants to fight for the title. Until then, the focus is on improving race by race and getting comfortable at the front of the grid.

His international profile continues to grow. Energy drink brand Red Bull released a documentary titled El Turco, highlighting his rise from national circuits to the world stage.

Expectations are clear. Fans around the world and supporters in Türkiye believe he can compete with the best in MotoGP. The next seasons will show how quickly that belief turns into podium finishes.
