Türkiye Detains 357 Suspects in Anti-ISIS Operations as New Year Security Measures Intensify Nationwide
Türkiye has stepped up security nationwide ahead of the New Year, with the Interior Ministry announcing the deployment of over 325,000 security personnel to ensure public safety during the holiday period.
The measures cover major cities, transportation hubs, entertainment districts, and other high-traffic public areas. Police, gendarmerie, and coast guard units have been placed on heightened alert, supported by checkpoints, patrols, and traffic controls across the country.
Alongside these measures, authorities confirmed that 357 individuals suspected of links to the Islamic State (ISIS) were detained in simultaneous counter-terrorism operations carried out across multiple provinces in recent days. Officials described the operations as preventive actions aimed at disrupting potential security threats during the holiday period.
The Interior Ministry said the combined approach—enhanced visible security measures together with targeted counter-terrorism operations—was designed to maintain public order, prevent criminal activity, and ensure safe travel during one of the busiest times of the year.
Additional precautions have been implemented at airports, bus terminals, and along major road networks, where traffic volumes are expected to rise. The heightened security posture is expected to remain in place through the New Year period.
