Sofia Airport to Suspend Civilian Flights Starting February 23, Military Traffic Only During Night Hours
Sofia International Airport in Bulgaria will be closed to civilian flights during specific night hours on February 23 and February 24, remaining open only for military traffic.
Flight tracking platform Flightradar24 shared Notice to Airmen A0127/26 showing that runway 09/27 will be closed to all flights except military flights on February 23 from 01:15 to 02:50 UTC and on February 24 from 01:05 to 03:35 UTC.
The NOTAM states: RWY 09/27 CLSD FOR ALL FLT EXC MIL FLT.

In a post on its official X account, Flightradar24 said that the most tracked flights in recent days have been US Air Force aircraft, sharing data showing multiple US military flights drawing high public attention.
Some observers have linked the increased monitoring of US military aircraft movements in Europe and the region to rising tensions involving the United States and Iran. No official statement has connected the Sofia runway closure to developments related to Iran.
Civilian flight operations are expected to resume outside the designated time windows.
