SOCAR starts gas deliveries to Austria and Germany via TAP

Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR has begun supplying natural gas to Austria and Germany, according to company statements and official reporting.

The gas is transported through the Southern Gas Corridor, entering Europe via the Trans Adriatic Pipeline. From Italy, volumes are forwarded to Central European markets through existing transmission networks.

SOCAR said deliveries to both countries started in January 2026. With the addition of Austria and Germany, Azerbaijani gas is now supplied to 16 European countries.

Supplies to Germany follow a 10-year agreement signed in 2025 between SOCAR and Germany’s state-owned energy buyer SEFE. TAP, the western segment of the Southern Gas Corridor, has been in commercial operation since late 2020 with an annual capacity of 10 billion cubic metres.

The new deliveries extend SOCAR’s European sales footprint along the established Caspian-to-Europe gas route via Türkiye.
