Foreign Controlled Enterprises in Türkiye Rise to 11,086 in 2024

The number of foreign-controlled enterprises in Türkiye rose to 11,086 in 2024, according to data published by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK). The figure was 10,673 in 2023.

Despite the increase in the number of enterprises, their share in total turnover declined from 12.9 percent in 2023 to 12.6 percent in 2024. Their share in total employment also edged down from 5.2 percent to 5.1 percent.

By sector, foreign control was most concentrated in tobacco manufacturing, where foreign-controlled enterprises accounted for 94.6 percent of turnover. Motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers ranked second, with a turnover share of 40.6 percent.

Germany held the largest share among source countries in both the number of enterprises and turnover. A total of 1,309 enterprises were controlled by Germany, accounting for 13.1 percent of total turnover among foreign-controlled firms. The United States followed with 1,010 enterprises and a 12.3 percent turnover share, while the United Kingdom had 737 enterprises and an 8.3 percent share.

The figures cover enterprises operating in Türkiye that are directly or indirectly controlled by foreign investors.
