FNSS, CSG Defence Sign Slovak Armoured-Vehicle Venture Deal

Turkish defence company FNSS has signed a framework agreement with Slovakia-based CSG Defence to establish Danube Defence Systems, a Slovak joint venture planned to produce FNSS-designed armoured vehicle platforms in Europe and pursue international land-systems demand.

The agreement was signed at Eurosatory 2026 in Paris and sets the main terms for local production, marketing and lifecycle support. FNSS said the venture will focus on medium armoured vehicle platforms, including the KARPAT medium tank, with production planned in Slovakia.

The structure gives FNSS a production foothold inside Europe as armed forces across the continent expand land-system procurement and demand local industrial capacity. Anadolu Agency reported that design, research and development and licensing rights will remain with FNSS, while the new venture will handle European production of FNSS-designed platforms.

The first platform under the partnership is expected to be the CFL-120 KARPAT, a medium tank based on FNSS's KAPLAN tracked platform. European Security & Defence described KARPAT as a medium-weight tracked combat platform developed by CSG and FNSS, combining tank-level firepower with mobility, modular protection and lower operational and logistics requirements.

The Slovak venture moves FNSS from direct export sales toward a production-and-support model inside Europe. CSG Defence brings an industrial network that includes Czech and Slovak land-systems companies, giving Danube Defence Systems a Central European base for manufacturing and support.

The agreement also fits a broader pattern in Türkiye's defence industry. Turkish companies have been building deeper positions inside Europe's defence-industrial network, from Baykar's drone partnership with Leonardo in Italy to HAVELSAN's simulation agreement with Belgium's Euramec. Türkiye and the United Kingdom have also moved to deepen defence-industry cooperation, adding a separate NATO channel to the same trend.

Slovakia's role matters because CSG already operates inside Central Europe's land-systems and ammunition production network. Danube Defence Systems would place an FNSS-designed tracked platform inside that production geography, giving the Turkish company a local route into European manufacturing and support.
