Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres discussed Syria and Cyprus by phone as the UN chief travelled from Damascus to the island.
The Turkish readout gave no details of proposals, decisions or areas of agreement.
Call Follows Guterres' Syria Visit
The conversation followed Guterres' meetings with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa and Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani during the first visit to Syria by a UN secretary-general since 2009.
The United Nations said the visit focused on Syria's political transition, recovery, sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity and access to international assistance.
Neither Türkiye nor the United Nations published a detailed account of the Syria part of the call. There is no official basis to link the discussion to sanctions relief, Israeli military activity, reconstruction or the 1974 disengagement arrangement.
Ankara Speaks With Guterres Before Cyprus Meetings
Guterres is due to remain in Cyprus from July 27 to 29 as part of his good offices mission.
He is expected to meet the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot leaders and discuss the peace process, stability on the island and the work of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus.
The call followed Fidan's talks with UN envoy María Ángela Holguín Cuéllar and gave Ankara direct contact with Guterres before the meetings.
Türkiye and the Turkish Cypriot side insist that sovereign equality and equal international status must be accepted before formal negotiations resume.
The Republic of Cyprus supports a bizonal, bicommunal federation under United Nations Security Council resolutions and wants talks to continue from the point reached at Crans-Montana in 2017.
No New Initiative Announced
No joint statement followed the call, and neither side announced a new initiative on Syria or Cyprus.
The official material confirms only that the two files were discussed. It does not show whether specific proposals were exchanged.
