CHP to March to TRT Over İmamoğlu Trials, Demanding Live Coverage
By Bosphorus News ·
The Republican People’s Party (CHP) has announced plans to march to TRT’s studios in Istanbul, demanding that the Turkish state broadcaster provide live coverage of the trials involving Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.
CHP Istanbul Provincial Chairman Özgür Çelik shared on social media that party members and supporters would gather in front of Akmerkez at 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, before marching to the TRT building in Ulus.
This move reflects a long-standing call by the CHP and Mayor İmamoğlu himself, who have repeatedly urged TRT to ensure transparency by broadcasting the proceedings to the public. Party officials stress that citizens have the right to follow the trials concerning their elected representatives.
The march highlights ongoing tensions over media coverage, transparency, and public access to judicial proceedings, and is expected to attract significant attention from both supporters and journalists.
