VatanJet Adds First Gulfstream G550 as Private Jet Range Expands in Türkiye

VatanJet has added its first Gulfstream G550 business jet, expanding the Turkish private aviation operator's long-range capability and moving the company further into the ultra-long-range executive travel segment.

The addition was reported by ch-aviation on May 22 under the headline "Türkiye's VatanJet adds first G550." The report follows Turkish aviation coverage in January that said VatanJet had completed the purchase process for a 2015-built Gulfstream G550 in December 2025, with the aircraft undergoing maintenance and technical checks at Gulfstream's Savannah facilities before joining operations.

The aircraft is listed in public flight-tracking data as TC-VTJ, a Gulfstream G550 associated with Vatan Jet. Flightradar24 data shows the aircraft type as GLF5 and identifies the operator as Vatan Jet, giving an operational signal that the previously announced acquisition has moved into the company's fleet picture.

The G550 gives VatanJet a longer-range platform than the Gulfstream G450 aircraft already highlighted on the company’s public fleet pages. VatanJet lists its G450, TC-VTN, with a maximum range of 4,350 nautical miles, or 8,061 kilometres, a maximum flight time of nine hours, 14 seats, and two Rolls-Royce Tay 611-8C engines. Turkish aviation reports in January described the G550 as offering a range of up to 12,500 kilometres and seating for 13 passengers in an executive cabin configuration.

That range difference matters in Türkiye's private aviation market. The G550 can support intercontinental missions that are harder to cover with shorter-range business jets, strengthening the appeal of Istanbul-based operations for corporate, diplomatic and high-net-worth travel between Europe, the Gulf, Central Asia, Africa and North America.

VatanJet's move also reflects a broader premiumisation trend in Türkiye's private aviation sector. Operators are competing not only on domestic or regional air taxi demand, but also on the ability to serve longer nonstop routes with larger cabins and higher-end aircraft. The G550 sits in that segment as a long-established Gulfstream platform built for long-haul executive travel, with a cabin profile designed for business, government and private clients seeking direct point-to-point mobility.

The aircraft's arrival does not make VatanJet the only Turkish-linked operator in the long-range business jet market. It does mark a clear fleet upgrade for the company. The January announcement showed intent. The May ch-aviation entry and flight-tracking data now point to implementation.

The significance for Türkiye's aviation sector is modest but concrete. A local private jet operator is adding deeper range, stronger cabin capability and a more international mission profile at a time when Istanbul continues to position itself as a regional aviation hub across commercial, cargo and executive travel.
