Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot Leaders to Hold Tête-à-Tête Meeting on 24 February

The Presidency of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has announced that Tufan Erhürman and Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides will hold a tête-à-tête meeting on Tuesday, 24 February 2026, at 11:00 a.m. local time.

According to the official statement issued by the TRNC Presidency, the meeting was agreed during the most recent leadership engagement, where President Erhürman proposed that, alongside meetings with the United Nations Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy on Cyprus, the two leaders should also hold direct talks without the envoy’s participation. Christodoulides accepted this proposal.

The Presidency noted that the upcoming meeting forms part of ongoing efforts to sustain direct dialogue between the two sides at the leadership level.

Separately, the Cyprus News Agency (CNA) reported, citing Greek Cypriot Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis, that the meeting will take place under United Nations auspices and that the date and time were confirmed following consultations between the two sides. The CNA report described the meeting as part of efforts to maintain communication channels and support continued engagement on the Cyprus issue.

The 24 February meeting will mark one of the first direct tête-à-tête encounters between the leaders following President Erhürman’s assumption of office after the October 2025 presidential election in Northern Cyprus.
