Pakistan hosted foreign ministers from Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Egypt in Islamabad for talks on the Iran war, bringing together key regional actors as the conflict expands across the Gulf, Yemen and Israel.

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan joined Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty for discussions led by Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. The meeting focused on reducing tensions and assessing diplomatic pathways as the war continues to widen.

Dar described the talks as “candid and constructive” and said participants were aligned on the need to pursue “peace and stability.” The meeting did not include representatives from the United States, Iran or Israel.

The format reflects a coordinated regional effort to address the crisis outside formal Western-led structures. With no ceasefire mechanism in place, the Islamabad talks signal an attempt to build a diplomatic track alongside ongoing military escalation.

The gathering comes as Türkiye increases its diplomatic engagement across the crisis. Ankara has condemned both the initial U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran and Tehran’s retaliatory actions, while maintaining contact with multiple regional actors. Hakan Fidan is expected to continue discussions in Islamabad over two days as part of a broader de-escalation effort.

Pakistan’s role as host places it at the center of emerging diplomatic coordination. Officials have framed the talks as part of a broader effort to contain escalation and manage the regional impact of the war, including risks to energy routes and economic stability.

The absence of the main parties to the conflict underlines the current stage of the process. The Islamabad format functions as a platform for coordination among regional actors rather than direct negotiations between those engaged in the war.
