Jordan Approves Trilateral Transport Cooperation Deal With Syria and Türkiye

Jordan’s Cabinet has approved a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on transport cooperation with Syria and Türkiye, marking a step toward deeper coordination on regional transport and logistics networks.

According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the agreement aims to enhance connectivity across the three countries by improving the efficiency of road, air and rail transport, as well as multimodal logistics systems. The MoU focuses on regulatory coordination, digital and intelligent transport systems, capacity building and improved governance of cross-border transport corridors.

Reporting by Caliber.az notes that the framework also encourages private-sector participation and investment, with the goal of facilitating the movement of goods and passengers while supporting broader economic activity across the region.

Under the agreement, a joint ministerial committee composed of the transport ministers of Jordan, Syria and Türkiye will be established to oversee implementation, coordinate policy dialogue and monitor progress.

Officials in Amman have framed the deal as part of wider efforts to revive key trade and transit routes linking Gulf and Middle Eastern markets with Europe via Syrian and Turkish territory, positioning transport cooperation as a practical entry point for regional economic integration.
