Fenerbahçe Leads EuroLeague With Eight Rounds to Go, but the Road Ahead Is Steep
By Bosphorus News Sports Desk
Fenerbahçe Beko holds the top spot in the 2025-26 EuroLeague standings with a 22-7 record, but its grip on first place faces a serious test. Six of the club's final nine games are away from home, a stretch that leaves the Istanbul side exposed to rivals closing in from below.
Valencia Basket, currently second with a 20-10 record, plays four of its last eight at home and is well positioned to overtake Fenerbahçe if the Turkish club drops points on the road. Olympiacos sits third at 19-10 and remains a stable contender heading into the final stretch.
Panathinaikos, in 10th place with a 16-14 record, faces the third toughest remaining schedule in the league, with an average opponent winning percentage of 0.543. The Athens club has four home games left but must travel to face Hapoel and Valencia, two direct rivals in the playoff race. Nothing is assured for a side that entered the final stretch without a margin for error.
Anadolu Efes, also of Istanbul, sits 19th with a 9-21 record. With a balanced remaining schedule, the arithmetic for a playoff push no longer works in their favor.
Maccabi Tel Aviv, currently 13th, holds the easiest remaining schedule among postseason contenders and has five home games left, giving the Israeli club a credible path into the Play-In spots.
The regular season concludes on April 17. The Play-In Showdown follows on April 21 and 24, with the best-of-five playoff series running from April 28 to May 13. The Final Four takes place in Athens on May 22 and 24, with the championship game set for May 24.
