Comprehensive Probe Into Fatal Aircraft Crash Ordered as Pro-gov Columnist Raises Mossad & British Intelligence Claims

Turkish judicial and aviation authorities have launched an extensive investigation into the fatal aircraft crash that claimed the lives of the crew, with prosecutors emphasizing that all potential technical, human, and operational factors will be examined in full.

According to information provided by judicial sources, the crash site has been sealed off and placed under protection as part of an inquiry overseen by four prosecutors working under the coordination of a deputy chief prosecutor at the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. All wreckage recovered from the site—most notably the aircraft’s flight data and cockpit voice recorders (black box)—has been preserved as critical evidence.

Focus on Technical Integrity and Human Factors

Authorities confirmed that autopsies and toxicology analyses are being conducted by the Ankara Forensic Medicine Group Directorate to establish the precise causes of death. Parallel to this, investigators are reviewing the pilots’ pre-flight conditions, including rest cycles, nutrition, alcohol or substance exposure, and psychological readiness, in line with international civil aviation investigation standards.

The inquiry has also requested detailed technical assessments to determine whether the aircraft was airworthy at the time of flight. Maintenance records, last-minute inspections, and the actions of personnel responsible for servicing the aircraft are under close scrutiny. Prosecutors are examining whether installed spare parts met regulatory and certification requirements, a step considered standard practice in high-risk aviation incidents.

Data Collection Expanded

As part of evidence collection, airport security camera footage and all radio communications between the control tower and the aircraft have been added to the investigation file. In addition, fuel samples were taken both from the refueling tanker and the aircraft wreckage to rule out contamination, incorrect fuel type, or supply-chain irregularities.

Judicial officials stress that no preliminary conclusions have been drawn and that findings will be communicated only after expert evaluations are completed.

Selvi Raises Claims of Possible Foreign Intelligence Links

In a widely read column, senior Turkish journalist Abdulkadir Selvi has advanced serious and highly sensitive claims, arguing that the crash may not have been a routine aviation accident and that foreign intelligence involvement should be examined as a possibility.

Selvi wrote that certain operational and contextual elements surrounding the incident warrant closer scrutiny beyond conventional accident scenarios. He explicitly suggested that Israel’s intelligence service Mossad and British intelligence circles should not be excluded from potential lines of inquiry, given Türkiye’s regional posture, security environment, and strategic engagements.

Importantly, Selvi did not claim the existence of documentary proof or confirmed intelligence. He framed his remarks as a strategic caution rather than an assertion of fact, urging Turkish authorities to ensure that sabotage, intelligence interference, or non-conventional external factors are assessed alongside technical and human causes.

No official institution has endorsed these claims, and no state authority has confirmed the involvement of any foreign intelligence service. Judicial and defense officials continue to emphasize that the investigation remains strictly evidence-based, and that speculation—regardless of prominence—will not substitute for forensic conclusions.

Claims Circulating, Officials Urge Caution

While the investigation continues, some media commentary has raised concerns about whether a broader risk to Ankara was narrowly avoided. Authorities have not endorsed these interpretations, emphasizing that such claims remain speculative and should not be conflated with verified findings until the technical process concludes.

Political Reactions Reflect Broader Sensitivities

Commenting on the incident, Devlet Bahçeli described the crash as “deeply concerning,” urging that all dimensions of the incident be clarified transparently and without delay, while avoiding premature judgments.

Former Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu also issued a statement calling for institutional accountability and openness, stressing that public confidence depends on the credibility of the investigative process rather than political narratives.

Defense Ministry: Cooperation Ongoing

The Ministry of National Defense confirmed that it is cooperating fully with relevant civilian and judicial authorities and underlined that Türkiye continues to work in close coordination with international partners, including Libya, where applicable. The ministry reiterated that speculation should not overshadow the technical and legal mechanisms now in motion.

Process Over Politics

Officials underline that aviation investigations are, by nature, methodical and time-intensive, requiring forensic precision rather than speed. The final report is expected to consolidate judicial findings, expert technical assessments, and safety recommendations aimed at preventing future incidents.

For now, authorities maintain that every scenario remains on the table, and that accountability—if established—will follow evidence, not conjecture.
